Our story
Why the name Moterra?
The name begins with a familiar phrase in the local speech of Quang Tri: “Mô tê răng rứa” — a warm, unpretentious way people in Central Vietnam ask questions and start a conversation. For us, it also captures the spirit of meaningful travel: slow down, ask, and truly speak with the place you visit rather than simply passing through.
Moterra grew from a team with technical backgrounds and deep local knowledge of present-day Quang Tri, from Dong Hoi to Dong Ha — home to the Phong Nha–Ke Bang cave system, the historic DMZ and a way of life that remains relatively untouched by mass tourism. We design each journey from that knowledge, not from an off-the-shelf itinerary.

Trained as a construction engineer, Tuan spent years travelling between projects from Dong Hoi to Dong Ha, reaching places most visitors rarely see. Those journeys revealed the true beauty of his homeland through its everyday life. Moterra grew from his wish to carry that beauty further: introducing international friends to an authentic Central Vietnam through the eyes of someone who has travelled its hidden corners.
